Transpersonal Embodied Relational
My Approach to Therapy
My approach is integrative which means that I draw from lots of different perspectives and knowledge to make sure that we are working together in a way that will help you change and grow in your life.
My initial training was transpersonal. This means I hold a holistic perspective taking into account many diffferent aspects of what it means to be human. It also means that I think about the uniqueness of what you bring to the world. Your personality, the things that have affected you as you have grown and developed, your strengths and weaknesses, your cultural background, identity and your potential. I am interested in what you desire and long for, and helping you work through the things that hold you back from that.
I am also interested in how you experience the world, take in information and make sense of the things you encounter.
Transpersonal psychology is depth work. It works with the mind, thoughts, feelings, body and spirit. We may pay attention to your dreams, somatic and spiritual experiences and the deeper processes at work in your life.
I also work deepy with embodiment and the connection between consciousness and matter. Embodiment work honours aliveness. Working in an embodied way is about coming back into wholeness, fullness of expression and depth of feeling. It is about gathering what has been scattered. Soothing what has been torn apart and honing our awareness to be able to experience the beauty and fullness of being truly alive. When we are embodied we have access to the full spectrum of aliveness.
My work is also relational. I am interested in how you relate to yourself and others and also the world around you and how you might engage with these relationships in new ways. I also think that is important to acknowledge the culture that we live within and the things going on in the world that affects our lives and ways of being. Because our struggles our not seperate from this. I think that many of the mental health issues we face are the result of the disconnection and separation people experience from themselves, each other and the incredible, diverse, beautiful planet we call home. In my experience therapy addresses these relationships explores them and can help reconnect you to yourself. From here your relationship with life itself can grow.
